Every survivor, regardless of circumstance, needs equitable financial autonomy because leaving an abusive relationship shouldn’t be a privilege, it should be a right. At I Know Why She Stayed, we work to ensure every woman has access to the tools, support, and education needed to reclaim her freedom and build an independent life.
Our Story
Founded in 2022, the I Know Why She Stayed Initiative created a safe space for women to never have to explain why they stayed with their abuser.
Today, the team continues to build their library of educational literature with Beyond Survival: The 4-Pillar Program to Rise & Rebuild, a unique roadmap to help survivors of domestic and financial abuse to escape their abusers.
On November 21, women are joining South Africa and uniting in solidarity as part of the G20 Women’s Shutdown. No labor, no spending, no presence: because nothing runs without women.
99% of women worldwide who are domestically abused are also financially abused. More than fifty thousand of those women die every year from domestic abuse, while many of those women stay in the abusive relationships because leaving means no home, no healthcare, no food, and no finances of their own.
Many women are facing this challenge and don’t know how to escape.
